Despite the many GPS devices out on the golf equipment market today, the Callaway uPro Go still manages to outsmart the competition.
Callaway is one of the most trusted brands by professional and amateur golfers alike. It has been providing high quality golf sporting equipment since the 1980's. It is the creator of golf classics, such as the Big Bertha Diablo Hybrid, Big Bertha '94 Irons, and Big Bertha Diablo Golf Ball. It has also kept up with the evolution of golf course rangefinders by creating the uPro GPS device.
The Callaway uPro Go is a step up from the original uPro. First, it has a different, more rounded look, in comparison to the classic uPro's rectangular design. Another thing is that it has been pre-loaded with 18,000 courses, which is a huge advantage for golfers because most GPS devices are not pre-loaded with this many courses and can only accommodate up to 20 courses at a time. Moreover, golfers will be relieved to know that they will only have to pay a one-time activation fee for this device.
While it doesn't have the classic uPro's flyover feature, it does have the Virtual Green View, which gives golfers a clear, colored picture of the area around the green. It also provides measures of distances from the tee to the green, which the golfers can use to make their shots more accurate. For a more detailed view of the green, golfers can purchase the GoMode function for a one-time fee of $50. With GoMode, golfers will have a clearer picture of the front and back hazards around the green, so they can adjust their strokes accordingly.
To let golfers get an accurate picture of the distance to the green and its surrounding area, the uPro Go has been equipped with the AnyPoint technology. This combines the best features of both laser and GPS rangefinders, such that it allows golfers to see the precise distance that they have to cover on and around the green. It is practically a fail-proof way for golfers to lower their handicap.
It's also relatively easy to sync the uPro Go with the list of available courses on the uPro Go site. It does not require the installation of any software onto the user's computer. One only has to plug the device, as one would do with a USB, into the computer and, as soon as the computer recognizes the device, it will open the uPro Go website. When they're done syncing, users have to eject the device first before unplugging it. The problem for Mac users, though, is that their computer sometimes does not recognize the device, making it more difficult for them to download courses.
The uPro Go is not the perfect GPS device yet. Some golfers complain about the lack of an electronic scoring functionality, which other GPS units have. They also find the joystick a bit difficult to move and the battery life leaves much to be desired.
No golf GPS device is perfect, but golfers can still get perfect shots with the Callaway uPro Go GPS device.
